June 1, 1924

Here the entries made by my grandmother actually start, about a week after my mother's birth. Prior to this time the diary was maintained by my grandfather while my grandmother was in the hospital.

Sunday.
Frances & Dad to Belle Isle-
Nice D.A.C (???) - dinner additions. Only
one week from such active Sunday.
C.W. drove to Jackson - then on to C.(Chicago)

June 2, 1924

Long week begun without Carl.
Nanny & Frances in p.m. Frank
evenings occasionally. Molly with canker
sores on tongue. Fred - 1st caller.

June 3, 1924

Carl's nice letters begun.
Company a helpful break. Grace
Willi (???) , errands done for Molly.

June 4, 1924

Wednesday.
Alice Lloyd's call pleasant.
Book "Told by Idiot" (???) most enjoyable
Things going with a boom at office

June 5, 1924

Thursday
10 callers - fairly weary. Plans
for housekeeping - nurses - help
etc.

June 6, 1924

Friday
Frances so lonely with none of her
family. Nanny's hands full - with -
trips to hospital etc. Doctor comes or he
doesn't.

June 7, 1924

Saturday
Carl home for supper - Jaxon (???) - Detroit
2 hours. Sort eve vist. Glowing
business reports. Car lovely. Molly
better.

June 8, 1924

Sunday
Frances so happy when her dad home.
Unhappy to have him go again.
Grandpa's holiday(?) box of candy.
Mr. B's call. Dad's departure - tuff.

June 9, 1924

Monday- head(?) rest for mother - sitting
up. Weather improving.
Molly-2 weeks.

June 10, 1924

Tuesday-
Ten Dyke and I for outdoor walk -
Road looks smooth ahead now.

June 11, 1924

Wednesday
For walk morning- hot June day.
For ride to Kirby - Elaine p.m.
Nice special. C.W. St Louis
Frank (?) eve visit. I vaccinated.

June 12, 1924

Thursday
Molly vaccinated - Ten Dyke to
Highland Park. True summer day.
Carl Evansville - perhaps.
Grace Ward - cookies.eve.

June 13, 1924

Friday
Carl home on very late
train. . All set. Dr signed discharge.
Nice eve. walk with Ten Dyke.

June 14, 1924

Saturday & like a 2nd
birthday for Molly. Came home
Poor Nanny tired. Model night
for a starter.

June 15, 1924

Sunday .. warmer .. lonely
quite family day. All smooth.
Carl back to Chicago.

June 16, 1924

Monday
McHenry's departed.
Nice quite visit with Nanny.
Carl's meeting McCurdy.

June 17, 1924

Tuesday
First (?) in morning. Ten Dyke
helpful. (????) for Molly- Mrs Janis (???)

June 18, 1924

Wednesday
Dad's letter to 280 (???) welcoming us in (??)
Moved Molly & ate 2 meals at 280 (???).
Slept here almost settled. Then Dyke gone.

June 19, 1924

Thursday
Mrs. Hessenauer on job = very O.K.
Word of Dad's comming .. No come.
Tilla's (???) call

June 20, 1924

Friday
Busy day. Dr's call - Horrible
heat. Dad to Buffalo - profitable
Chicago meetings.

June 21, 1924

Sat - Lovely family day-
Errands - fixings all day. Mrs. D (???) and a cake for tea. Sunday's birthday
Nice eve. Helen McC's wedding.
Carl a bad cold. All early to bed.

June 22, 1924

3 months since Uncle Bert's going. Seems less.
less possible or bearable. Smooth day. Dad
off on trip. I to tired eve. F's [Frances] and Dad's
1st horseback.

June 23, 1924

Monday
Dad stayed over. Some business
and nice drives. Molly on one.
Hot. Off on sleeper for CWJ.
Model day for Molly.

June 24, 1924

Tuesday
Tonsil day. Restful luncheon at
324. Letters squeezed in.
An hour on spread business (????).

June 25, 1924

Wednesday
Molly weighed. gains 2oz. 8#10
More restful day but tired by bed.
Fred A ... Mrs. MacD & (???) at 3 and 4.
Mrs. P (???) and Betty. Beautiful day for M. [Molly]

June 26, 1924

Thursday.
Rather uphill day. Nice letter
from Dad. Mrs. Niani's (????)
call. Michigan Shawberne's (???)
Glorious weather. Molly on schedule.

June 27, 1924

Friday
E Lewis ??? and M ?? Buttle sail Dad
in Pittsburgh. Cleve - perhaps. No
Nhome in air such a heat .. horribly
drawn out call. A Bell. Molly fine.

June 28, 1924

Saturday
Rain galore. Nurse away.
New housekeeper. McHenry's in town
but all looked well. Good when Dad
home where he belongs.

June 29, 1924

Sunday
Trying to rain for a change.
Eventful ride for F with Dad. ?????
event of week. Bath ??? - Mother for
first time went off beautifully ... gained 8#15

June 30, 1924

Monday - Dad stayed to pick up
Mr. Tuomey ???? . Off in Packard to
do slate ???? ... Spring Lake visit. Had Dad's
???? day Sunday noon. Mrs. P. North.
